Dundee Temple will not host public Prayers

Devotees urged to pray at home and continue to have faith and belief in God

The Dundee Hindu Temple has taken the difficult decision not to publicly observe the annual Maha Marieammen and Madurayveeran Prayer on July 17-19.

“The temple management, after analyzing the seriousness of the pandemic and the rapid spread of the virus, have come to a decision not to re-open our temple for all forthcoming prayers until the spread is minimised. Further notification will be conveyed via the press.” said Perumal Kali, Temple chairperson. “Many devotees and committee members, including our Guru are chronically ill patients, and are most vulnerable to the effects of the Covid-19 virus.

We understand that many devotees may be disappointed at this decision, but as responsible representatives of the temple, we have to take into consideration the safety and health of everyone that may be at risk of contracting the virus.

“We urge you to pray at home and continue to have faith and belief in God. Devotees are encouraged to ensure they take all necessary protocols to avoid the spread of the virus. On behalf of our trustees, council members, officials and our priest, we want to apologise for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

May the divine Mother Adhi Parasakthie guide us through this dreadful time.”
