Officer tests positive for Covid-19 at Ladysmith RTI

All primary contacts have been placed in isolation

An officer has tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) at Ladysmith Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI).

The officer tested positive on Wednesday (July 8).

All primary contacts have been placed in isolation and staff who are secondary contacts are being ‘orientated’ by the Department of Health. Primary contacts who are in isolation have been advised to get tested either at Ladysmith Provincial Hospital or a private lab.

According to interim communications officer Nelisiwe Nyathi, the area the official was utilising has been closed off and deep cleaning of the entire RTI office took place yesterday (July 9).

The traffic officer works out on the road and consequently was in contact with members of the public. RTI is tracing those community members and encourages them to go for testing.
