Ferrum reports first positive Covid-19 case

"The learner's parents have both tested positive for Covid-19."

Ferrum High School has recently reported a positive Covid-19 case, after a Grade 9 pupil tested positive.

“The learner’s parents have both tested positive for Covid-19. At Ferrum, we follow the necessary health and safety protocol at all times. The learner who tested positive only attended school on July 2, and has not been at school for the last week. We have been in contact with the Department of Education (DoE) and the Department of Health (DoH), and they have recommended the school be closed in order to deep clean the premises,” read a letter to parents.

Learning at the school is expected to resume on July 13.

“Grade 10 and 11 learners will still be writing their formal assessments from Monday. We request that you continue to emphasise the importance of social distancing, masks and sanitising at all times to your children.”
