Good Samaritans spread warmth
Mavis Kunene said the programme is helping many families in the various areas of Zululand
Last week Thursday, a team from the Al-Imdaad Foundation distributed blankets, hygiene kits, walking sticks, food packs and masks to the less fortunate in the Vryheid area.
The foundation partnered with Zululand District Municipality, the Islamic Medical Association (IMA) and One Humanity during their annual Operation Winter Warmth project.
The deputy mayor of the Zululand District, Mavis Kunene, accompanied the team to the various visitation points in the area, namely Emadwalele, Vryheid CBD and Ward 15 of AbaQulusi Municipality.
Al-Imdaad Foundation special projects co-ordinator Abed Karrim said, “We are not doing you any favours by giving you a blanket or a hygiene pack or a face mask. It is our duty to assist you in times when it is cold like this and in times of need.”
Mavis Kunene said the programme is helping many families in the various areas of Zululand, and she expressed her gratitude towards One Humanity and the Al-Imdaad Foundation for making a difference. She continued to say that Zululand District Municipality is making progress since these communities in the rural areas did not only receive blankets from the foundation, the municipality also provided water.
