A farmer was injured in a farm attack near Ladysmith yesterday (Wednesday, July 1).
The attack took place at a farm on the gravel road between Colenso and Winterton.
It is believed that five men in a bakkie approached the farmer the previous week, ostensibly looking to buy sheep. The farmer replied that he doesn’t sell sheep, and the men left.
The same men returned on Wednesday, July 1, this time under the pretense that they wanted to buy cattle.
The farmer told them he was just busy in a meeting with his staff and when he turned his back, he was attacked by the suspects. A fight broke out between the farmer and his attackers, and shots were fired.
The farmer’s wife came to his assistance and the men fled the scene.
The farmer was injured in the attack, sustaining bruising to his body.
