Four suspects arrested for alleged stock theft

The men failed to provide the officers with an explanation as to where they had obtained the meat from

Four suspects have been arrested for two separate incidents of stock theft recently.
A suspicious-looking bakkie with four occupants was spotted near the Triangle store in Vryheid on June 12. When police officers approached the vehicle, two of the occupants jumped out and fled on foot. The two in the back of the bakkie stayed where they were.
Upon searching the vehicle, police found cattle carcasses. The men failed to provide the officers with an explanation as to where they had obtained the meat from. The two men were immediately arrested and charged for possession of stolen property.
The officers then proceeded to Bellevue, where they discovered eight calves with their mouths gagged. Two men were arrested for stock theft and possession of stolen property. All the suspects will be profiled to determine if they are linked to pending stock theft cases in the area, and they will appear in the Vryheid Magistrate’s Court in due course.
