Family speaks out after Mukelisiwe Ndlovu’s brutal murder in Ladysmith

"There were cuts to her forehead, her stomach and thighs"

The woman who was murdered and dumped in the veld in the Zwelisha area of St Chad’s has been identified by family members as 31-year-old Mukelisiwe Ndlovu.

On Thursday, June 18, Ladysmith Gazette journalist Sindiswa Buthelezi visited the family of the deceased and interviewed them in the wake of this tragedy.

Speaking to aunt Mrs Madondo, she said she last saw Mukelisiwe on Thursday, June 11, when the deceased was going to fetch water for her cousin in Zwelisha.

“If only I had known what was going to happen, I could have prevented her from going to Zwelisha that day. Days passed and I thought she was at my parents’ home, which is also in St Chad’s,” said a tearful Mrs Madondo.

She continued that, “On the Wednesday morning, the day her body was found, I remember telling one of my family members that we must report Mukelisiwe’s disappearance to the police, as it was unlike her to just go off without informing anyone. The very same day, my children told me that the body of a woman had been found in Zwelisha, not knowing it was in fact Mukelisiwe’s body.”

With tears rolling down her face, Mukelisiwe’s aunt described the state of the body… “She was mutilated. There were cuts to her forehead, her stomach and thighs. She was brutally  killed.”
