Life lost in June 16 crash along Helpmekaar Road, Ladysmith
Lockdown regulations were not adhered to as hundreds gathered at the accident scene
A horror crash in Helpmekaar Road near St Chad’s sadly claimed the life of one person on Youth Day (Tuesday, June 16).
Two vehicles collided; a VW Golf and a Ford Bantam bakkie. Besides the one fatality, two people were injured and treated for slight to moderate injuries. Police, Public Safety, paramedics and towing services responded to the scene.
Hundreds of community members gathered to see what was going on.

Only a few of them were wearing face masks, and social distancing was not adhered to.
People are constantly reminded to adhere to the lockdown regulations in order to combat Covid-19, but the rules were definitely not followed at this accident scene.
