It was a very cold but exciting Monday morning for Dundee High School (DHS) staff and matriculants. The sound of laughter outside rekindled warm memories and the school was instantly alive.
Learners lined up in order to be screened by educators and HODs. Principal Rudi Haschke and Mr Devereux were at the front gate to receive a combination of anxious and excited learners armed with masks, sanitizers and their books.
“We are excited to be back and so happy to see our family reunited, which is why we are working really hard to keep the environment safe so that it will be conducive to learning for an extended period of time,” Mr Haschke said.
Learners are accommodated in classrooms set up to specifically enforce social distancing.
All the necessary precautions are being taken by the school, and the smell of sanitizers and bleach will resonate for many years to come. “We do ask, however, that parents encourage their children to maintain social distancing, wash their hands often and keep wearing their masks,” is the message from the school.
