After recovering an assault rifle on a farm in Weenen, police are eager to find its owner.
Police received a tip-off that firearms were being harboured on Nhlawe Farm. Acting on this information, Weenen police – accompanied by Public Order Police (POP) officers – swooped on a homestead on Thursday (May 28), where they began a search.

This resulted in the recovery of an AK-47, which was concealed inside the house.
An AK-47 is officially known as an Avtomat Kalashnikova.
“No arrests have been made and a case has been opened, which Weenen police are investigating,” said police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi.
Anyone with information concerning the owner of the weapon is encouraged to call 08600-10111 or make use of the ‘MySAPS’ App.
