A 26-year-old man was shot and killed by a group of unknown suspects on Wednesday, May 13.
Police say the victim was with two friends in a shack in the Umbulwane area when a group of men entered at about 6.30pm and asked about a bakkie that was parked outside.
The 26-year-old told the men that the bakkie belonged to him.
According to police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi, the owner of the bakkie was then allegedly taken into nearby veld, where he was shot and killed.
One of the friends was also shot, but survived and was later taken to Ladysmith Provincial Hospital for treatment. The other friend managed to escape without any injuries.

Captain Nyathi added that Ladysmith police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.
