The SANBS are embracing the future in an attempt to attract more donors.
The SANBS have recently teamed with Facebook and the Western Cape Blood Service in a bid to attract a new market to donate blood.
South Africans who are over 18 years old, will now have the option to sign up as blood donor on Facebook.
They will be notified when donor centres near them have an urgent need for donations and they can invite their friends to join up as well.
The partnership comes at a crucial time when donations have seen a drop as a result of people staying home to prevent the spread of COVID-19
You can sign up to be a blood donor on
Facebook by going to Blood Donations in the About section of your profile, or access the link:
facebook.com/donateblood. People will be able to see requests and opportunities to donate
on Blood Donations on Facebook in their mobile devices to over 80 blood donation sites.
