Local company donates masks to Newcastle’s essential municipal workers

The donation will go to essential municipal staff on the frontline.

Local company, Senlida Chemical Fibre wants to ensure essential services staff will remain safe while carrying out their duties.

Company representatives recently handed over more than 2 000 disposable masks to the Newcastle Municipality and expressed its thanks to municipal workers for its commitment to service delivery.

Chief Whip, Cllr Dolly Mnguni received the donation and said unity and collaboration would ensure good results.

“We thank the company for realising we have not slumbered during the lockdown period. We will continue to serve the community; we will fix pipes, collect waste and serve our members,” promised Cllr Mnguni.

Head of Communications for Newcastle Municipality, Mlungisi Khumalo, said municipal staff have been ‘relentless in their tasks’.

“This donations of masks will be given to those on the frontline, especially those who go out into the community.”
