Reaching far and wide to help deserving families

More than 1000 households across of the length and breadth of the municipal boundary have benefited from food parcels, courtesy of Eskort Limited.

The company has decided to donate 400 food parcels each week for four weeks to residents. The novel idea is that each Eskort Limited staff member receives a food parcel and in turn identifies a deserving family in their neighbourhood, who then gets the package.
Each food parcel contains vegetables, soup packs, 5kg maize meal and 2kg of polony. Eskort Limited general manager Wynand Nel said the initiative was borne after the plight of people during lockdown was observed.
“We understand that some people don’t have a steady income during the Covid-19 national lockdown and we wanted to reach out to the communities,” added Mr Nel.
He substantiated that the project had received “fantastic” support from the staff. Staff member Sandile Gwala said the food parcels would reach far and wide, considering the areas that employees live in.
“Eskort Limited is making a difference, even in the deepest rural areas. This is the true spirit of Ubuntu. It also shows the staff that our company has trust in us, because they are allowing us to go out and identify the recipients. It’s going to make a huge impact,” added Mr Gwala.
