“Madlala should be removed from the mayoral seat” says uBumbano Lokuthula

Mayor Madlala took voluntary sick leave in March after the uBumbano Lokuthula Organisation led protest action that literally brought the town of Ladysmith to a standstill

uBumbano Lokuthula Organisation chairperson Dr Andile Hlatshwayo says they are “saddened” by the return of Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Vincent Madlala to his mayoral seat.

Mayor Madlala took voluntary sick leave in March after the uBumbano Lokuthula Organisation led protest action for the removal of the mayor earlier this year. The protest literally brought the town of Ladysmith to a standstill.

The organisation says it was never informed about the return of the mayor.

Chairperson Dr Hlatshwayo says they still stand firm that the mayor should be removed by the ANC government.

“We are amazed that Mayor Vincent Madlala is back because, in our last meeting with the Premier, we took a collective decision that Madlala should be placed on special sick leave,” said Hlatshwayo.
