Wanted suspect busted with illegal firearm

The gun contained 7 live rounds of ammunition and its serial number had been erased

Bergville police and Stock Theft Unit officers arrested a man for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm while conducting operations on Tuesday, April 28.

According to SAPS spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi, officers attached to the Bergville Stock Theft Unit were busy making sure the streets were crime-free when they found a known criminal wanted for cases in the area.

The officers searched the man and found a firearm in his possession.

The firearm contained seven live rounds of ammunition and its serial number had been erased.

The suspect was promptly arrested.
