Resistance to regulations at pension payout points

Long and uncontrollable queues could be seen around town, as the elderly waited to get their government pension payouts.
Many did not want to follow the one-metre social distancing regulation, so the Joint Operations Committee (JOC) had to call the police for assistance. Eventually everyone followed the rules, but this didn’t last long. Soon after the JOC had left, there was no social distancing once again.

While controlling the lines, the JOC also offered a litre of Amahewu to each elderly person and requested them to sit down should they feel dizzy. Those who came for child grants were sent back home, as Monday and Tuesday were dedicated to only the elderly and the disabled.
