Medical association provides the community with masks

Weekly distributions are held at Ladysmith Provincial Hospital and St Chad’s Clinic

The Islamic Medical Association (IMA) has embarked on a nationwide campaign to provide the community with masks, which the members are currently doing on a daily basis.

The Fabric Face Masks Project is continuing in Ladysmith, and the IMA values the continued contributions they are getting from all corners of society.

R39,840 has been raised so far. The number of masks sewn / donated stands at 10,336 and the number of masks distributed stands at 7993.

Weekly distributions are held at Ladysmith Provincial Hospital and St Chad’s Clinic, which are very successful and appreciation is shown by all the patients.

The IMA (along with numerous local organisations) falls under the banner of NKR Covid Hamper Distribution, working in conjunction with Operation Sukuma Sakhe and Alfred Duma Local Municipality.

Masks are also placed in food hampers for distribution. In this way, more than 2000 masks have reached homes.

The IMA team also visited Eldorado Homes for the Disabled in Poort Road, where they handed out masks to all the residents so they can stay safe during the pandemic.

Anyone willing to assist can do so, as the IMA is still in need of people who can sew masks for them.
