Municipality needs to stop faeces flowing into the Klip River

Birds are attracted to the yummy insects floating in human faeces

Toilet paper intermingled with whatever else is flushed down nearby toilets flows directly from an overflowing sewer manhole in Watson Road into the storm-water drainage system and then into the Klip River, which is less than 200 metres down the road.

The overflowing manhole was reported to the municipality over seven months ago and still nothing has been done about it.

The water flow is so consistent that large birds have been attracted to the area as a semi-natural wetland, and a source of yummy insects and other delicacies floating in the effluent…

This cannot be good for either humans or the local wildlife, so let’s hope the municipality fixes the problem soon.
