SASSA apologises for glitches

"The payment of all grants scheduled for May 6 has been verified and it has no discrepancies".

SASSA KZN spokesperson Sandy Godlwane has acknowledged and apologised for the payment system glitches experienced on Monday, which affected the payment of the elderly and disability grants.

On Tuesday (May 5), she confirmed that funds were released to beneficiaries on Monday afternoon at 3pm and that SASSA officials were deployed to monitor various pay-points in the region.

“The payment of all grants scheduled for May 6 has been verified and it has no discrepancies. SASSA wishes to apologise to all beneficiaries for the inconvenience caused by this,” said Godlwane.

For further enquiries, affected beneficiaries are encouraged to call the SASSA customer care line on 0338463400 or the 0800601011 toll-free number.

Many pensioners were sent back home early Monday due to unavailable funds.
