With the rapid spread of the Covid-19 virus, the Aryan Benevolent Home’s (ABH) staff risk their lives by coming to work on a daily basis. The 99-year-old national Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), that also runs a home in Glencoe.  recently launched a BackaBuddy campaign to raise funds to purchase personal protective equipment for their frontline staff.

The ABH provides succour to 700 residents which include the aged, frail, physically and mentally challenged, abused women and children. The NPO spreads their activities over five facilities in the greater Durban area, an aged-care facility in Glencoe and two children’s homes in Lenasia, Gauteng.

The ABH employs nurses, nursing assistants, carers and physiotherapy assistants to provide healthcare to their residents. Their elderly residents are very frail and require 24 hour nursing care.

Naren Pattundeen, interim CEO of the ABH said: “We have successfully raised money to reduce the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. As the number of cases increase, we fear that our dedicated staff will be exposed. We need to look after them by providing them with personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves. We are appealing to you to please share our link with your family and friends especially those that live overseas. BackaBuddy is a simple mechanism to transfer money to us. Thank you for helping our charity”.
