Desiree Moonsamy, the school’s founder, is disappointed and heartbroken as she relates how her husband, Esperin, discovered the burglary at the school premises in Roland Hellet Road yesterday (April 21) when he went to change a light bulb.

Mr Moonsamy did not think much when he had difficulty opening the lock on the driveway gate.

The Moonsamys believe that the burglars picked the lock on the front gate to gain access to the premises.

It was only when his son ventured towards the kitchen and noticed the shed door ajar, did he realise that something was amiss.

The sinking realisation that the school had fallen victim to a burglary became obvious when Mr Moonsamy walked around and noticed several items missing and a broken window.

The items that were missing are: 58 sponge mattresses, a Ryobi lawnmower, gas cylinder, two industrial chip fryers, one industrial toaster, a wheelbarrow and eight 20 litre peanut butter containers, which was filled with water.

The thieves also damaged and burgled a car on the premises, taking a DVD player, screen and speakers.

A car was damaged and burgled.

“We are still in shock. It breaks me to know that someone would do this to special needs children, who are never given a chance. We struggled and made plans and finally got everything together and this happens,” said a very disappointed Mrs Moonsamy.

The Moonsamy family is appealing to any locals that have any information to please contact them on 063-523-7041.
