Covid-19 screenings ready to begin in Umzinyathi

Mass screenings are set to get underway from tomorrow, in Sibongile.

Widescale testing begins in the Umzinyathi District tomorrow, as the Department of Health ramps up its Covid-19 screening programme. Beginning tomorrow, teams will conduct screenings in the Dlamini area, Sibongile (near the Sakhimpilo Clinic) until April 17.

Between April 20 to 24, teams will conduct screenings in the Craigside area. Other teams will also cover the Msinga, Nquthu and Umvoti municipal areas during the month.

Department officials explained this was merely the first phase of the programme and more screenings are to be conducted in the area in the weeks to come.

Currently, there are only two confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the district, both of which are believed to be in the Greytown area.
