Thatched rondavel in flames on Hajee Jamal Street

The Fire Department is currently extinguishing a fire, which has engulfed a rondavel on Hajee Jamal Street.

It appears as if the fire started outside when a tree caught alight. The fire soon spread to the thatched roof. SAPS officials, who were manning a roadblock nearby, spotted the smoke and rushed to the scene.

The Fire Department was said to have responded speedily, and has been able to bring the fire under control. Speaker of the Endumeni Council, Lucky Khumalo is also at the scene.

The main house is okay and no one was injured in the blaze.
