Day 12 of ‘life under lockdown’ in Endumeni

For emergency services personnel, the lockdown has meant long hours of hard work.

The streets of Endumeni remain eerily quiet, save for a few nervous shoppers seeking the essentials. Municipal and emergency workers are out and about, with a few pedestrians making their way into town.

Even the social cyclists seemed to have packed away their bicycles, and today (Tuesday) only one jogger was seen by the Courier, making his way down Victoria Street.

For security officials, it is a case of non-stop roadblocks and trying to prevent residents from breaking the stay-at-home regulations. Roadblocks are being manned between Dundee and Glencoe daily, as are checks on the N11.

See next week’s Courier for more news on the security arrangements and residents’ reactions.
