[WATCH]: Save a life during the 21-day national lockdown

SANBS is an essential service and donors are encouraged to donate blood at this critical time.

It is essential to donate blood, even during the national 21-day lockdown. So says Shavani Sewpaul, Donor Relations Practitioner at SANBS Newcastle (Donor Centre).

“Our country needs you the most during this time,” said Sewpaul.

All donor centres will remain open during the lockdown with extended operating hours, to accommodate social distancing measures. Donating of blood and blood products has been deemed an essential service.

SANBS Clinic Supervisor, Muntu Majola advocates proper hygiene and donors are sanitised before entering the premises.

These are the times you can donate:

Monday to Friday – 8am to 7pm
Saturday and Sunday – 8am to 2pm.

Extra precautionary measures have been put into place for the safety of SANBS staff and donors.
