Dundee woman defrauded at ATM

A local woman fell victim to an opportunistic scammer, utilising an ATM.

A woman was reportedly defrauded out of R6 339, when she went to withdraw money from an ATM in Dundee.

While withdrawing money, her card became stuck in the machine. A stranger offered to assist her and then handed her a card, which he supposedly took out of the ATM.

When the victim proceeded to a store to withdraw the money there, she was told the card did not belong to her. She then received an SMS notifying her of a withdrawal from her account.

The matter is under investigation by SAPS, and residents are warned to be vigilant when using an ATM.
