False reports of COVID-19 plague Estcourt again

The store manager is calling on locals to stop spreading false rumours

“Just stop it!” commented irate OK Furniture manager Fortunate Mnyandu after untruths about a staff member testing positive for COVID-19 surfaced today.

Ms Mnyandu says that staff alerted her that social media was abuzz with these rumours, which she confirmed are false.

“No one has tested for coronavirus and no one here has it. We don’t know who is spreading these rumours. Just stop it,” she added.

Further to the allegation of a positive case, it was claimed that the store was closed and staff members were being tested.

“We are working today and our doors are open,” added Ms Mnyandu.

The public is advised to call the coronavirus hotline on 0800 029 999” with any suspected cases of corona, or to report or obtain information relevant to the pandemic.
