Business owners say poor service delivery is killing trade in Kandahar Avenue

They say they are losing business and people are not coming to their shops anymore

Business owners in the bottom section of Kandahar Avenue say they are feeling the pinch due to poor service delivery in the area.

Businesses near the steel bridge say that the pavement and the road surrounding their shops is in a bad state and is not attended to by the municipality.

They add that the municipal land with offices next to them is also in a terrible state, with overgrown grass and filth all over the place.

People burn rubbish around their shops on a daily basis, leading to a horrible odour lingering in the air.

To make matters worse, people urinate outside their buildings, which also makes the place stink to high heaven.

The business owners do their bit to clean up outside their shops, but they ask how much more they have to do when it’s actually the job of the municipality.

With all the above service delivery issues, plus the massive potholes in the road, they say they are losing business and people are not coming to their shops anymore.

“We hope the municipality get their act together and clean up the area at the bottom of Kandahar Avenue so that business can pick up once again,” said one business owner, echoing the sentiments of many others.
