Locals provide road repair relief

More pothole patching, thanks to locals

The poor state of the roads in Estcourt is deteriorating into further neglect.

Large and deep potholes mar almost every road in the residential and central business district (CBD).

Thanks to proactive steps by individuals and businesses, some of the roads have been temporarily repaired.

On a Saturday morning recently, Xolani Khumalo, Johan Ntombela and Zachios Magubane who are employed by Mica in Estcourt were seen repairing the roads in Drakensview.

The trio was tasked  by the local hardware business to fill the gaping potholes along Richmond and Rolland Hellet roads.

Mr Magubane said that it was an initiative by the business because the roads are so bad.”

He added that the team received praises from passing motorists, who are undoubtedly relieved that they won’t have to be dodging the many potholes along this route.
