Devotion and praise at Pundit Narine’s Dannhauser visit

Pundit Narine said that 'just like an orphan without parents, we too are helpless without the Lord'.

It was a small but spiritually devout crowd which gathered at the Dannhauser Hindu Temple recently, for the visit of Pundit Chunelall Narine.

Pundit Narine is an internationally renowned Hindu priest from New York, who has been visiting South Africa for 13 years now. He mastered the Holy Scripture, the Ramayan, and started delivering sermons from as early as seven years old.

An eloquent, inspirational and motivational speaker in both English and Hindi, he is also a world famous bhajan singer who has released numerous CDs, DVDs and books.

During his brief appearance in Dannhauser, he praised the gathered crowd for attending the event.

“Many are called but few are chosen. You are lucky because you are chosen,” he said.

Pundit Narine also commended the crowd for keeping their faith alive, adding it was important they passed on their knowledge to future generations.

While explaining excerpts from the Hanuman Chalisa, Pundit Narine urged people to remember that their greatest wealth in life was their health. He added that stress was the biggest proponent of many health concerns, and said it was as dangerous as physical illness.

Bikrum Sing, Vikesh Singh, Pritha Singh and Madhuru Sing from the Jai Shri Raam Organisation are responsible for facilitating the Pundit’s tour.

Pundit Narine used an analogy that just like an orphan without parents and a bird without feathers, we too are helpless without the Lord.

“As the years go by and time ticks on, we will eventually run out of time. While we are on earth, we must sing God’s praises and worship him. This is how we secure a better place in heaven,” he concluded.

Residents commented that since the Pundit’s visit to the area, more people have flocked to the Dannhauser Hindu Temple.
