Ferrum High School learners test their baking skills

Soon the kitchens were filled with the lovely aroma of freshly baked goodies.

A training programme was presented to the Ferrum High School Grade 11 and 12 Consumer Studies learners, on February 17 and 18.

The programme was led by Maatgie Vollmer Francina of Anchor Yeast, who gave the learners valuable experience on the basic principles of dough making and baking a variety of yeast-based products.

Learners also had the opportunity to improve their own baking skills, and soon the kitchens were filled with the lovely aroma of freshly baked goodies.

Both learners and teachers were grateful for the opportunity, and looked forward to making use of the new knowledge. This knowledge could possibly be applied in the learners’ future careers.
