Things to consider when taking on the responsibility of a new pet

According to the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL), there are a number of things to be taken into consideration when thinking of getting a new pet.

Firstly, it needs to be a family decision and then the cost implications should be considered. With the ever-increasing cost of feeding an animal, you need to establish whether you can without a doubt meet these costs. The cost of veterinary fees also needs to be considered; the animal has to be inoculated and sterilized.

Municipal by-laws state that all animals need to be sterilized, except in the case of a registered breeder. As an animal owner, you should make yourself aware of all the by-laws, as ignorance is not an excuse.
