As an extension of this morning’s (February 26) protest action to remove the mayor, road closures will take place around town if the protesters’ demands are not met. This is according to Ubumbano organisation chairperson Dr Andile Hlatswayo.
This afternoon, taxis blocked off certain roads in town, but the areas were soon cleared.
Police and Public Safety are monitoring the situation.
Protesters are calling for the immediate removal of Mayor Vincent Madlala.

It is unlikely that any taxis will be operating again tomorrow.
Motorists are warned to be vigilant.
Roads are expected to be blocked later this evening or tomorrow morning.
