The Newcastle community is invited to enjoy some leisure time at the dam with friends and family.

The 35th annual Chelmsford Challenge will take place this Sunday (February 23) at the Ntshingwayo/Chelmsford Dam.

The event will be hosted by the Newcastle Swimming and Lifesaving Club, and is a popular gathering for open water swimmers. Swimmers from across the country travel to Newcastle to partake in the well-established event, which takes place at one of Newcastle’s most serene dams.

There will be events of different distances in which swimmers can participate:

In association with the organisers of the event, Ferrum High School also host a triathlon on the day of the challenge.

The community of Newcastle is invited to enjoy some leisure time at the dam with friends and family, with food and drink on sale from exhibitors during the course of the day.
