SEE THIS: Python removed from family’s yard in Weenen

The python was safely removed and released

Bongi Mdlolo from Ezitendeni, Weenen had an unusual visitor on Monday (February 17). She spotted a python after it had scared off a hen and occupied its egg laden nest.

The python invaded the hen’s nest.

The snake soon disappeared and Ms Mdlolo informed neighbours of the sighting.

Yesterday (February 18) the snake slithered back into the family’s yard and they immediately sought help from a resident.

Nazir Mohammed, who together with his grandfather had helped another Weenen family remove a python when the fire department claimed there was no fuel in the vehicle, was called to the home.

He captured the python and safely removed it before it was released.

A resident from the area said that the community is ‘vulnerable.’

“We have nowhere to go for help except risking the life of this brave young man,” commented a resident.
