Dundee Hindu Temple to observe Maha Shivarathri

Devotional songs, bhajans and kirtans glorifying Lord Shiva will be rendered by individuals and groups.

The Dundee Hindu Temple will observe Maha Shivarathri on Friday (February 21), commencing at 6pm and continuing throughout the night, with the concluding prayer at 6am on Saturday (February 22).

Maha Shivarathri, meaning ‘the great night of Shiva’, is celebrated each year in reverence of Lord Shiva, the Hindu God of destruction and regeneration. Offerings of bilva leaves are made and the mantra ‘Om Nama Shivaya’ is chanted.

Devotional songs, bhajans and kirtans glorifying Lord Shiva will be rendered by individuals and groups throughout the night. Maha Shivarathri is observed to symbolise the overcoming of darkness and ignorance in our lives.

Join the Dundee Hindu Temple on this holy night and together let us pray for world peace, brotherhood of man, the triumph of good over evil and a righteous life for all. Take this opportunity to renew your faith in the power of prayer.

All devotees and well-wishers are urged to attend this celebration and receive the divine blessings of Lord Shiva.
