The South African flag is a symbol of pride and respect for the ideals and values the nation stands for. He explained how every country is represented by a flag and that the students need to respect their flag.

The pivotal design of the flag starts at the flag post in the form of a ‘V’, which flows into a single horizontal band that leads to the outer edge. This symbolises the convergence of all the diverse people in South African society, taking the road ahead to unity. This convergence and unity theme comes from the motto from the previous South African Coat of Arms – Unity is Strength.

Two flag poles stand outside the front of the school and as two senior students raised the South African flag, the school sang the National Anthem. They then raised the Christian flag on the other pole, representing the Godly values the school stands for. Standing at attention, the students quoted the ‘School Pledge’, in which they pledge to their country, to the Christian flag and to the Bible.

At Elevate Christian Academy, the motto is: “Equipping for Life!” The school’s vision is to impart into the students the ideals and values of being upright young citizens who show honour and respect for a symbol that represents South Africa as a nation. ECA is a school that is raising a generation of young people who will be the future “nation changers”, ready and equipped to make a difference in our community, South Africa and beyond.

As a school, they are committed to “flying our flag proudly”!
