Michaelis advances into the future

"The 'talk and chalk' method of teaching has become a thing of the past".

The world is shifting towards the fourth industrial revolution and Michaelis Private School has no plans of being left behind.
Last week Monday, the school introduced parents to a new advancement in teaching and learning, and the parents were eager to learn more and to have their children be technologically savvy.
Enrique Oompie from Think Ahead Education Solutions said, “This will teach children future skills and the understanding of the fourth industrial revolution. We are an education solutions company focusing on building relationships with schools with our iSchoolAfrica Initiative. Using iPads in the classroom will teach children skills such as coding and robotics, promoting their computer skills, creativity and collaboration. The fundamental idea is to achieve a high level of quality thinking and to increase creativity.”
Parent, Zipho Dlamini commented, “This is a good idea. It teaches you how to think and how to use your creativity.”

Another parent, Lisinka Tarrant added: “This will be beneficial for all the children because we are living in the technological era. I am very positive it will be a success and will encourage our children to learn more.”
Michaelis Principal, Marion Gaskell said, “We want to prepare and empower our children for an unknown future so they are ready to take on jobs which do not yet exist. We have changed the way we teach at Michaelis; we do things differently here! The ‘talk and chalk’ method of teaching has become a thing of the past, and teachers are facilitators on the journey of discovery. Introducing technology will enable us to reach all our learners and make our lessons exciting and memorable. We will however, never do away with books and writing. The iPads will be used a tool to enrich learning.”
The fourth industrial revolution is described as ‘the current and developing environment in which disruptive technologies and trends such as the Internet of things, robotics, virtual reality and artificial intelligence are changing the way we live and work’.
“Nothing stays the same as change, if we want a bright future for our children it is time to change things up!”
