On Friday morning at 8am, Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) staff under the AbaQulusi Local Municipality, councillors and municipal management gathered in front of the municipal building, to start with a proactive clean-up campaign.
The team started at Domonia Street and worked its way towards Mason Park, heading down Mason Street and ending at the Post Office building.
According to the municipality, the clean-up was initiated in order to establish a clean, sustainable and user-friendly town.
The municipal team have embarked on various environmentally friendly initiatives and anticipate the clean-up will be a continuous gesture.
Management of AbaQulusi Local Municipal pleaded with the community to keep the parks and spaces clean, since both the community and the environment would benefit from this.
The team only completed the set task at around 1:30pm on Friday afternoon.
