Much-needed rain falls to increase dam levels in Ladysmith area

The lowest dam in the KZN region is Albert Falls on 32.4%

With lots of rain again falling in Ladysmith this past week, especially on Friday morning (February 7), you may be wondering about all the dams near town and how full they are.

Here are the most recently recorded levels:

Spioenkop Dam is just below the 80% mark on 78.6%.

Driel Barrage is full to the brim on 100%, with Woodstock Dam on an impressive 89.8%.

Wagendrift Dam is ‘overflowing’ on 100.8%, while all you Ladysmith anglers will be picturing ‘big ones’ biting when you hear that Sterkfontein Dam is 91.9%.

The lowest dam in the KZN region is Albert Falls on 32.4%.

Rivers in the area are also flowing well, which will be a benefit to the farmers.
