Residents without power yet again after second explosion at sub-station

Power should be back by 5pm today

During the early hours of this morning (February 7), there was an explosion at the sub-station in Jantha Road.

A bystander saw flames and smoke coming out of what is believed to be a transformer at the sub-station. The area is now in darkness.

Electricians responded to the scene and are currently attending to the problem.

It is believed that if everything goes well regarding repairs, power should be back by 5pm today.

This electricity outage comes after the one on Monday (February 3) when the same sub-station was struck by lightning, leaving residents without electricity for two days.
