Nityananda Prabhu appeared in the village of Ekachakra in West Bengal, India, around 1474.
In the Chaitanya Charitamrita and other scriptures, He is declared to be the avatar of Lord Balarama; the direct expansion of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna.
Lord Nityananda is considered an ocean of love, compassion, humility and sweetness.
He freely distributes the love of God without discrimination of caste, creed, sex and religion. He has descended to deliver all fallen souls in the age of Kali Yuga by requesting them to chant the holy names of God.
