An all-inclusive function to commemorate the 120th Anniversary of the Battle of Spion Kop was held on January 24.
It was wonderful to have such interesting speakers. Rev John Green commenced the proceedings with a Homily and
opening prayer.

Jan Human spoke about the Boers / South Africans and their experiences. Raymond Stewart Heron spoke about the British and painted vivid scenes of the battle.
Thulani Mazibuko spoke about the African noncombatants and the value of our being united in the commemoration, and Rev Simphiwe Sibeko consecrated the memorial.
Mr Emmo Govender explained the participation of Gandhi and the stretcher-bearers on Spion Kop.
He too reiterated how wonderful and meaningful to have Hindus and Tamils represented at this service.
The memorial to the Indians who participated was consecrated by their priest. One of the wreaths was laid by Mr
Mudeliar, whose grandfather was a stretcher-bearer with Gandhi on that fateful day.
It was indeed a privilege to arrange and host this amazing day. Thank you to one and all.
