Update: Protesters allow operations to start at Ezakheni Water Treatment Works

It is believed that water should be restored to the affected areas later this evening

The protesters who closed down the Ezakheni Water Treatment Works have now allowed operations at the plant to resume again.

Workers are currently starting up the machinery.

uThukela says that the clear water reservoir is at 94% and they are ready to pump to the command reservoirs (the purpose of regional or command reservoirs is to provide balancing storage as well as emergency storage in the case of a disruption of supply).

At this stage, according to the district municipality, it is believed that water should be restored to affected areas later this evening (February 3).
