Lightning hits transformer at Jantha Road sub-station, leaving residents without electricity

Electricity Department staff, along with Public Safety officers, responded to the scene

Lightning struck a transformer at the Jantha Road sub-station a short while ago this evening (February 3).

Members of the Electricity Department, along with Public Safety officers, responded swiftly to the scene.

The electricians quickly found the fault; one of the bushings on the transformer was hit by the lightning.

Electricians are currently working on the fault and are trying to restore power to the affected areas.

Residents of Acaciavale and other affected areas are urged to be patient, as the electricians are trying their best to get the power back during these inclement weather conditions.

Power is expected to be restored before the morning.
