Many homes were left without water for four to six days at a time and unfortunately did not receive any water via municipal tankers.
uThukela District Municipality released a statement saying: “The Ezakheni Water Treatment Plant is currently not fully operational due to a series of lightning damage to the raw water abstraction pump electrical panels, which reduced production at the water treatment plant, with load-shedding having aggravated the situation.”
Al-Imdaad brought relief to the Hillside, Acaciavale and Leonardsville areas by distributing water to homes and also requesting residents to collect water from Musjid Abu Bakr in Poona Road.
The community expressed their immense gratitude to Al-Imdaad for their assistance.
