Student Journalist for the Vryheid Herald, Lwazi Kunene is bidding the publication farewell.
She shared this heartfelt message at the culmination of her journey:
“It has been a wonderful journey with the Vryheid Herald team.
I don’t take the opportunity for granted; this was a platform for me to use what I have learned in college and put it into action, and also a platform to learn and gain more insight about the field I chose – journalism.
I was able to express myself in my own writings in the newsroom. I have interacted with the community of Vryheid from all levels, which is one of the reasons why I love being a journalist – meeting people.
I can fully say I have learned a lot about how journalists work and behave. Still on the path of discovering myself, I have no doubt and fear about the knowledge and experience they gave me. As I get older and wiser, I shall use this and watch my dream come true – to be a well-known journalist who gives accurate, concise and newsworthy news.
I would not mind coming back and being their reporter. This was the first platform for me to find and discover myself in terms of my career.
This is the lucky chance I will never forget in my life.
