Meridian learners excel in final exams

Meridian Newcastle Independent School is proud of two of its learners, who excelled in the matric final exams.

Sibongakonke Zondo and Manqoba Ngwenya both received six distinctions respectively. Sibongakonke came out on top with an average of 88 per cent, while Manqoba obtained an average of 82,8 per cent.

Sibongakonke received distinctions in Physical Sciences (97%), Life Orientation (93%), Life Sciences (89%), Isizulu (87%), Maths (85%) and Geography (82%). Manqoba stood out in Physical Sciences (94%), Mathematics (89%), Isizulu (87%), Accounting (84%), Life Sciences (81%) and Life Orientation (80%).

Meridian Newcastle Executive Head, Raymond Mazibuko commended the boys on their performance and healthy competition:

“It is only through hard work and dedication that one is able to achieve such results and as a school, we couldn’t be prouder to have been part of their success. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors as they head off in different directions to pursue their chosen career paths.”

Sibongakonke Zondo will study Actuarial Science at Wits University.

Sibongakonke has been accepted into the University of the Witwatersrand to study Actuarial Science, while Manqoba has registered at the University of Cape Town to study towards a degree in Medicine.

The Class of 2019 boasts a pass rate of 82,9%, an improvement of six per cent from the Class of 2018’s 76,9% pass rate. Congratulations to the two boys and to the Class of 2019!
