The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) is facing the mammoth task of dealing with dogs on the loose and roaming the streets of Ladysmith. The kennels are full of these animals that have been brought in.
The AACL would like to remind the community that they do not go out and pick up stray dogs and cats. The local municipality is in charge of picking up strays.
If animals are at the kennels for more than seven days, the league will become responsible for re-homing them if the owners do not pitch up to claim their pets. A fee is charged to pet owners to keep their dogs at the kennels.

The bottom line is that pet owners are urged to keep their dogs in their property at all times.
